Jim Okun

Managing Partner

Mr. Jim Okun is a Managing Partner at Trest Capital, LLC.

Trest Capital is a strategic capital advisory firm for private companies at pivotal moments of growth. Trest Capital works with founders, CFOs, and investors to structure and execute secondary transactions and liquidity solutions.

Mr. Okun has held positions as the Director of QW Ventures and Strategas Securities. Additionally, he has served as a Senior Examiner at FINRA. Through his diverse experiences, Mr. Okun has worked with investors by providing clarity in a rather opaque market. He works to always provide a premier level of client service by assisting investors and shareholders in navigating the private (pre-IPO) market. He focuses on providing liquidity discreetly and efficiently to shareholders of privately held companies while delivering unique access to pre-IPO deal flow to his institutional investor client base.

Mr. Okun also provides institutional investors with opportunities to transact in private shares in late-stage venture-backed companies.

Mr. Okun holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Accounting from Wagner College. He also played professional lacrosse for the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

Mr. Okun holds the Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses with FINRA.

Carter Nichols

Partner

Mr. Carter Nichols is a Partner at Trest Capital based in New York City. He is focused on the private capital markets, brokering secondary transactions for executives, investors, and employees of venture-backed companies.

Trest Capital is a strategic capital advisory firm for private companies at pivotal moments of growth. Trest Capital works with founders, CFOs, and investors to structure and execute secondary transactions and liquidity solutions.

Prior to Trest Capital, Mr. Nichols worked in investment banking at Alantra in New York City. He advised clients across the technology sector and developed expertise in complex M&A transactions. Mr. Nichols began his career at AGC Partners in Boston, where he also focused on technology investment banking.

Mr. Nichols earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business,​ where he also played football and served as a team captain in 2019.

Mr. Nichols holds SIE, Series 7, 63, and 79 registrations with FINRA.
